Most garden rooms are cold. Or expensive. Or both.

Flat-pack buildings from Dunster House and similar cost less upfront — because you build them yourself, over several weekends, using fibreboard insulation that struggles in winter.

Premium bespoke builders charge £25,000–£60,000. Their quoted prices often exclude foundations, groundwork and VAT. The real number arrives after you've signed.

Ridgeway sits between the two. Fully installed, 150mm SIP construction, transparent fixed pricing. The market average for an installed garden room is £21,000–£27,000. Ours start at £10,910.

Before you get in touch.

Do I need planning permission?

No. Both sizes fall within permitted development. We recommend a Lawful Development Certificate (£103) for written peace of mind — we advise on that if you want it.

How disruptive is the installation?

Ground screws, not concrete — no excavation, no mess. 7–9 working days on site. Your garden is back to normal the day we leave.

Will it be warm enough in winter?

Yes. 150mm SIP throughout gives a U-value of 0.27 W/m²K — approaching building regulations standard. It holds heat the same way a well-insulated room in your house does.

What's covered by the warranty?

10 years on structure, roof, doors, windows and cladding. 2 years on workmanship. Everything is covered by a written contract before we start.
